Job summary

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Chemical Engineering Intern to support the Quality Assurance & Support Services Division in Valhalla, NY. Under direct supervision, you will contribute to design, construction supervision, operations, maintenance, and asset management for the Croton filtration plant and related facilities.

You will engage in research, investigations, data analysis, and preparation of engineering reports while receiving structured training

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited college; or a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering technology with two years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Perform foundational chemical engineering work to support safe, compliant operation of NYC drinking water systems.
• Assist with research, investigations, inspections, testing, and preparation of engineering plans and reports.
• Prepare designs, plans, contract drawings, and related correspondence.
