Washington State University Kitsap Extension in Bremerton seeks a part-time Program Assistant to support Watershed Stewardship programs and education outreach. The position is up to 16 hours per week, with varying hours including some weekends and evenings for events.

The assistant will coordinate the Stream Steward, Salmon Docent, and Kitsap Beach Naturalist Programs, follow Extension policies, and help with volunteer trainings and event logistics.

Responsibilities

Job description

Location: WSU Kitsap Extension, 345 6 th St. Suite 550, Bremerton WA 98337

Term: Expected to start Dec. 1st, 2025 – December 31st, 2026

Schedule: Part-Time up to 16hrs/week, Variable schedule

Position Summary: This is a part-time, paid position for up to 16 hours per week. Work hours and times vary depending on seasonal programming and events. Some weekends and evenings will be required for educational outreach events and volunteer trainings.

Assistant reports to Watershed Stewardship Program Coordinator and will primarily help with the coordination of the Stream Steward, Salmon Docent, and Kitsap Beach Naturalist Programs. Minimum Educational Requirement: A.A. or A.S. degree in education, sciences, environmental studies or natural resources.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Social media, marketing, and/or graphic design experience
  • Interest and experience in photography, videography and/or development of infographics or story maps
  • Event planning experience, with a focus on educational workshops or field trips
  • Familiarity with Kitsap County natural resources and the regional organizations and agencies that manage them
  • Experience with maintaining records, files and statistical information

Compensation: This position is hired as a Program Assistant = $20.09 – $26.74 per hour.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
