Job summary

The City of Naples is seeking a Utility Locator to locate and mark water, wastewater, and reused lines across the distribution network. You will use electrical and manual methods outdoors, reviewing plans and preventing digging until locations are confirmed.

Responsibilities include identifying lines, testing meters, maintaining logs, and coordinating leak-detection work. A valid Florida license and rigorous outdoor work readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of water/wastewater utilities experience with knowledge of utility systems.
• Equivalent education/training may apply.
• Valid Florida Class E driver license and driving record meeting City standards.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark water, wastewater, and reused utility lines.
• Identify mains, meters, hydrants, and sewer lines in construction areas.
• Prevent digging until utility locations are completed.
• Review plans and specifications for field work.
• Use hand tools and locators to perform locate tasks.
• Install and test water meters and boxes as needed.
• Maintain daily records of work performed and vehicle inspections.
• Assist with leak detection scheduling and reporting.
