Job summary

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle seeks a Program Officer for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene to guide global health investments and drive innovative sanitation solutions. You will lead certification-focused initiatives, foster partnerships, and help scale technologies to serve low-income populations worldwide.

The role emphasizes strategic investments, regulatory alignment, and collaboration with diverse partners in a fast-paced foundation environment.

Qualifications

At least five years professional experience in inspection, auditing and/or certification.
Excellent understanding of international standards; certification processes and organizations (ISO/IEC).
Demonstrated experience in product certification to support end-user adoption and global commercialization.
Understanding of certification/regulatory agencies in the developing world (Africa or Asia).
Ability to think/act like an investor.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger team.
Experience with a wide range of clients, colleagues, consultants, and partners across private, public, and NGO sectors.
Strong analytical skills with a focus on complex problems.
Excellent negotiation skills and clear written/oral communication.
Fluency in English is obligatory; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
Willingness to travel up to 33% internationally and domestically.

Responsibilities

Lead an investment portfolio to complement ongoing technology development and commercialization efforts.
Make investments to support product compliance with national and international standards and certificates.
Develop test plans, gather and distill data, and share findings with the team.
