Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Professional Water Resources Team Leader with a Louisiana PE license to lead and grow our water resources practice in Louisiana.

You will manage a team of engineers, oversee project delivery, budgets, and client engagement, and provide technical leadership on drainage design and hydrologic analyses. Travel to project sites and collaboration with state agencies and municipalities are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or ABET-accredited equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Water Resources project delivery.
  • Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with ICPR4 (Stormwise) and GIS.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, water resources planning, and design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor staff to ensure successful project delivery and operational performance.
  • Oversee delivery of complex water resources projects within scope, time, and budget; manage team performance and budgets.
  • Contribute to business development, cultivate client relationships, and assist in market growth planning.
  • Provide technical guidance in drainage design and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses for riverine and stormwater scenarios.
  • Coordinate strategic planning with Directors and Operations Managers; support resource alignment with company goals.
  • Foster professional development and ongoing staff training; stay current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Oversee multiple water resources projects concurrently; ensure client specifications and standards are met.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership in design, analysis, problem solving, and quality assurance of deliverables.
  • Monitor budgets, allocate resources, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.

Halff has an immediate opening for an experienced Professional Water Resources Team Leader, with a Louisiana PE License, to fulfil the role of Team Leader specialising in Water Resources. This is a strategic leadership position to expand our water resources practice in Louisiana. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with FEMA, LaDOT, Water Management Districts, LDEQ, and local municipalities. Team Leaders play a pivotal role in leading Halff projects to success. They manage a dedicated team of engineers and/or professionals, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of solutions to our clients. Their responsibilities encompass project management, team supervision, client advocacy, technical expertise, and quality assurance. The Team Leader is the key point of contact for our clients, working closely with them to understand their needs, provide expert guidance, and ensure their utmost satisfaction. The Team Leader's technical proficiency and leadership will drive their team to overcome complex challenges and produce innovative solutions. Moreover, the Team Leader will be responsible for maintaining project budgets, allocating resources efficiently, and identifying strategies to enhance project profitability. What you will do:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor staff to ensure successful project delivery and operational performance.
  • Project Delivery & Financial Management: Oversee the delivery of complex water resources projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Responsible for team performance and meeting project financial targets.
  • Business Development & Client Engagement: Actively contribute to business development efforts, cultivating relationships with new and existing clients, and assisting in strategic planning for market growth.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance to team members and clients. Apply expertise in designing drainage systems and performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using riverine and stormwater models.
  • Strategic Planning: Adapt strategic plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Collaborate with Directors and Operations Managers to align team efforts with broader company goals.
  • Leadership Development: Foster an environment of continuous professional development by coaching staff, providing opportunities for growth, and ensuring the team stays at the forefront of industry trends and technologies.
  • Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
  • Oversee and manage multiple Water Resources projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications and industry standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster professional growth and development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as the primary point of contact, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in design, analysis, and problem-solving, assisting team members in resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
  • Monitor project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities to optimise project efficiency and profitability.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise any adverse impacts on project outcomes.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
  • Must have a minimum 10 years of experience in Water Resources project delivery
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the state of Louisiana
  • Technical experience with ICPR4 (Stormwise) and GIS
  • Requires technical experience and/or familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, water resources planning, and design for private and public stormwater infrastructure
  • Proficient in project management, administration, and supervision of technical staff
  • Proven track record of successfully leading projects from inception to completion
  • Robust written and verbal communication skillsProven business development experience
  • Positive attitude, self-directed yet a team player, with a focus on quality, integrity and success.
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
