Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects in South Jordan, Utah seeks a Hydrologic and Hydraulics (H&H) Project Manager with 5–10 years of experience to lead complex water resources projects for railroad clients and other divisions.

The role involves coordinating client interactions, managing schedules and budgets, supervising junior engineers, and delivering high-quality H&H analyses using HEC software and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering; MS in Water Resources preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in study, design and construction admin of water resources projects including railroad H&H.
  • Utah PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Client interaction and coordination with frequent engagement.
  • Coordinate plans and schedules for detailed engineering phases and major projects.
  • Monitor time schedules and job costs; adjust to plan.
  • Provide project engineering and task management on water resources designs.
  • Supervise junior engineers and support staff on H&H tasks.
  • Conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design.
  • Perform floodplain, inundation, and hydrologic studies.
  • Perform sediment transport and scour analyses for water resources projects.
  • Assist in water resources permitting efforts.
  • Collect, evaluate, and present data in technical reports and presentations.
  • Assist in preparing engineering plans and specs for detention, storm drains, and hydraulic facilities.
  • Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to business development, marketing and proposal efforts.

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Hydrologic and Hydraulics (H&H) Project Manager with around 5-10 years of experience to join our team in South Jordan, Utah. As part of our team, you will perform analysis and design as a Project Manager on difficult to complex water resource related projects for our rail clients and support the work of other divisions within the firm as requested.This position will lead and direct/perform high level H&H projects. Project Management of complex H&H projects where you work closely with clients, discipline managers and support staff to ensure the successful completion of projects. The ability to effectively coordinate staff efforts to ensure timely and cost effective solutions to project requirements is a must.Roles and Responsibilities:Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basisCoordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projects.Monitors time schedules and job costs and adjusts to comply with eachProvide project engineering and task management on water resources design projectsSupervise and delegate work to junior engineers and support staff as necessary to manage specific H&H engineering tasks within larger complex projectsConduct stormwater collection systems modeling and designPerform floodplain, inundation, and hydrologic studiesPerform sediment transport and scour analyses to support water resources projectsAssist in water resources permitting effortsCollect, evaluate, and present data in technical reports and oral presentationsAssist in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structuresWork independently and within multidisciplinary teams of geomorphologists, biologists, planners, emergency managers, and additional hydraulic and water resources engineersContribute to business development, marketing, and proposal preparation effortsRequired Skills:Excellent oral and written communication skillsExperience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS, storm drain system analysisStrong background in surface water hydraulics and hydrology as well as applying this technical knowledge to address client needs, meet deliverables, and train junior staff;Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3d and/or MicrostationTeam-oriented individual who is eager to lead and manage projectsRequired Experience:Bachelors of Science in Civil EngineeringMaster’s degree in with an emphasis in Water Resources (or related) is preferred10 years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water resource related projects including Class I railroad H&H projectsUtah State Professional Engineer License, or ability to obtain within 6 monthsJob Location: South Jordan, UtahAnnual Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000+ (Depending on Experience)Please note that Wilson & Company is not currently sponsoring applicants for work visas.About Us:For nearly a century, Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, has provided award-winning engineering, architecture, planning, environmental, surveying, geospatial, and construction management services.
