Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is seeking a licensed professional Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Storm Water Drainage team in South Jordan / Salt Lake City, UT. The role requires 15+ years of water resources experience and a PE licensed in Utah or eligible to obtain within six months.

You will lead project delivery, mentor staff, and coordinate across offices to deliver high-quality drainage projects while maintaining strong client relationships in the Salt Lake City

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in water resources, including stormwater drainage.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Utah, or able to obtain within six months.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; MicroStation OpenRoads desirable.
• Experience with drainage software: HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM, SRH2D, FLOD2D, InfoWorks ICM, HY-8, etc.
• Experience in drainage analysis, planning, and facility design.
• Collaborative mindset to work with diverse staff.
• Existing client relationships in Salt Lake City area preferred.
• Experience on highway design builds preferred but not required.

• Oversee project delivery from start to finish with minimal oversight.
• Complete site designs and perform hydraulics and hydrology calculations.
• Help adopt and improve design standards.
• Partner in safety program adherence across the team.

Job description

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a licensed professional Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Storm Water Drainage team in South Jordan / Salt Lake City, UT. Qualified candidates must have 15+ years of experience in water resources, including stormwater drainage.

The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced engineer who is tired of the corporate mindset and wants to return to a "people-focused" way of doing business. A candidate who values relationships and working together to solve problems for our clients and communities and building long-term trust through quality project delivery.

This role will be expected to join our Salt Lake City office team and work alongside junior and mid-level staff in Salt Lake Office with support from our Phoenix, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Loveland offices. They will coordinate with peers in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Loveland and across disciplines to help mentor staff, deliver projects, win work, and optimize processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage design, permitting, and construction services for the assigned project efficiently and responsibly.

• Manage project delivery from start to finish, without oversight, to meet project quality, schedule, and cost commitments; delegating work to junior and mid-level staff as appropriate.

• Complete site designs, perform hydraulics and hydrology calculations, and design stormwater infrastructure, grading, erosion control, & drainage plans.

• Participate in adopting and improving design standards to improve or enhance our practice.

• Actively participate and adhere to our safety program and ensure that all team members are as well.

• Manage and mentor junior staff to see that designs and plans are appropriately compiled, on time, and in a quality fashion.

• Will be required to maintain positive client relationships regularly.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• 15+ years of experience in water resources, including stormwater drainage.

• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Utah, or ability to obtain within six months.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, experience with MicroStation OpenRoads is desirable.

• Experience with drainage-related software programs such as HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM, SRH2D, FLOD2D, InfoWorks ICM, HY-8, and others.

• Experience and proficiency in performing drainage analysis, drainage planning, and drainage facility design.

• Have a collaborative mindset and capable of working with staff from various backgrounds and experiences.

• Existing relationships with clients in Salt Lake City and the surrounding area are preferred.

• Experience working on highway design builds is also preferred but not required.

Position Location:

South Jordan / Salt Lake City, Utah

Salary: $175,000 - $225,000 (Depending on Experience)
