Talent Acquisition & Retention: Looking to connect with Engineers who focus on California's Water Industry

MKN is seeking a Water Resource Planning Discipline Lead to work closely with Operations Managers, Principals, and other staff to drive business within the California market. This role will involve collaborating with local water professionals to develop and implement an innovative business strategy, identifying and leading key regional pursuits, managing large multidisciplinary projects in water resource planning efforts, including Urban Water Management Plans and water supply planning and building strategic relationships with clients and teaming partners.

We are a team-oriented and highly motivated group with offices in Irvine, Oceanside, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Fresno, San Jose, Ventura, and Santa Clarita.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead water resource planning efforts, including Urban Water Management Plans and water supply planning (e.g., stormwater recovery, water reuse, groundwater, and imported water).
  • Conduct potable and recycled water distribution system modeling, as well as wastewater collection system modeling.
  • Utilize modeling software such as Bentley (e.g., WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerCAD), Aquanuity, and Innovyze (e.g., InfoWater, InfoWorks).
  • Develop water and wastewater master plans.
  • Collaborate with leadership and operations teams to develop and execute innovative business strategies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to achieve project objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance and insights to address complex water resource challenges.
  • Represent MKN at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and reputation.
  • Serve as Project Manager, Client Manager, or Project Director, depending on assignment requirements.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and support in recruiting efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $250,000. The firm offers a highly competitive salary and fringe benefits, and most importantly, an opportunity for engagement and support from an engineering team that has led major regional water resource projects throughout the western U.S.
