Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Lead Professional Engineer for Water Resources to lead multi-disciplinary teams on large water facilities projects in the United States. You will guide design, analysis, and constructability efforts while interfacing with clients and agencies to ensure project success.

The role requires a PE license and 8+ years in water facilities engineering, with strong communication and resource-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• 8+ years of experience in water facilities engineering, design, or construction.
• Ability to manage engineering, design or construction projects.
• Proficiency in Civil3D preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, 2D Modeling, and related software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a project team of engineers, designers, and field personnel in water systems design and constructability assessments.
• Coordinate with stakeholders through meetings and project updates.
• Share resources with other offices and project managers.
• Assist in proposal preparation, including scope, schedule, and budgets.
• Interface with clients including state and local agencies.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve engineering and construction issues.
• Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Lead revisions and changes to contracts with sub-consultants and clients.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports presenting technical information clearly.
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Lead a project team consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of water systems
• Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
• Coordinate with office management and other project managers to share resources
• Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations. Also prepare the scope, schedule, and budget for new projects
• Interface with clients including state and local agencies
• Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues
• Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates
• Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients
• Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
• Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
• Professional Engineering License
• 8+ years of experience in the water facilities engineering, design or construction fields
• Ability to manage engineering, design or construction projects
• Proficiency in Civil3D preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
• Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, 2D Modeling, and other applicable software
• Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.
• Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices
• Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
