Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) invites you to join our Water Resources internship in Knoxville for Summer 2027.

You will work with engineers on hydrologic analyses, stormwater design, floodplain studies, stream restoration, and dam safety assessments while gaining hands-on experience in analysis, fieldwork, and client service. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices, using GIS, CAD and modeling tools to support real projects and professional growth within

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS or related software preferred.
• Coursework or experience in water resources, hydraulics or stormwater engineering.
• Previous internship, co-op, research, or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for rivers, streams, and floodplains.
• Supporting the design of stormwater management and drainage infrastructure.
• Assisting with dam safety evaluations and watershed studies.
• Preparing calculations, reports, maps, and presentation materials.
• Using GIS, CAD, and modeling software to support project development.
• Conducting field investigations and site visits.
• Collaborating with engineers, scientists, surveyors, and other professionals.
