Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Water Resources Engineer Intern to join the Water Team in the Lawrenceville, NJ area. This 12-week Summer Internship starts May 17, 2027, with a program designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship through the Developing Professionals Network.

You will assist with field work, preliminary design and cost estimates, and gain exposure to real projects alongside senior staff, while developing technical writing and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Water Resources/Environmental Civil Engineering program with expected graduation May 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interest in water resources engineering and ecological restoration.
• Strong communication to convey ideas to engineers and non-engineers.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and common software/tools.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.
• Able to perform field work in extreme conditions and swim.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn civil engineering principles focused on water resources and ecological restoration.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
