Job summary

MBC Talent Connections is seeking a Water Resources Hydrogeologist/Engineer in Houston, TX (Austin, TX also ideal) to support water resources projects across Texas and other states. You will work through the full project life cycle from planning to completion, reporting to a Team Leader.

You will build hydrogeologic models, prepare sustainability plans and water management studies, perform fieldwork, and assist with proposals and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, hydrology, geology, earth sciences, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a hydrogeologist or engineer on water resources projects.
  • Experience with numerical groundwater modeling (MODFLOW), data management and visualization, and technical writing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with colleagues, clients, subconsultants, regulators, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.

  • Prepare groundwater sustainability plans, water supply assessments, urban water management plans, water transfer studies, and conservation programs.
  • Write clear reports and presentations that make complex technical issues easy to understand.
  • Support site visits, water level and quality data collection, well installation, and aquifer testing.
  • Assist project managers and senior staff with proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and progress reports.

Water Resources Hydrogeologist/Engineer

Houston, TX (Austin, TX also ideal) | Full-Time | Professional
Candidates elsewhere in Texas or in other locations may be considered.

Your Opportunity

Help shape how communities and clients manage their water. You'll join an employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm and support water resources projects in Texas, Colorado, California, and other states. Your work will span the full project life cycle: planning, feasibility, design, implementation, and completion. You'll report to a Team Leader.

What You'll Do
Technical Analysis
  • Build hydrogeologic conceptual models, water balances, and numerical models to assess groundwater availability
Reports and Planning
  • Prepare groundwater sustainability plans, water supply assessments, urban water management plans, water transfer studies, and conservation programs
  • Write clear reports and presentations that make complex technical issues easy to understand
Fieldwork
  • Support site visits, water level and quality data collection, well installation, and aquifer testing
Project Support
  • Assist project managers and senior staff with proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and progress reports
  • Take on other related duties as needed
What You Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, hydrology, geology, earth sciences, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a hydrogeologist or engineer on water resources projects
  • Working knowledge of numerical groundwater modeling (e.g., MODFLOW), water resources planning, groundwater availability investigations, data management and visualization, ArcGIS, and technical writing
  • Strong written and verbal communication with colleagues, clients, subconsultants, regulators, and the public
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning
Preferred
  • Master's degree
  • Active Texas licensure or certification: PG, PE, GIT, or EIT
  • Python proficiency
  • Familiarity with Texas groundwater regulations, water data sources, groundwater availability models, and regional water planning
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training

  • Fast-paced, with a high volume of work and frequent short deadlines
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing
Travel
  • Occasional travel, up to 20% of the time, including possible overnight trips for client meetings and site visits
  • Valid driver's license required
