DESCRIPTION

Join the City of Corona's Utilities Department as a Water Resources Field Representative where you will be protecting and preserving our community's water resources through expert fieldwork, conservation efforts, and public outreach!

The Utilities Department is comprised of five divisions including Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric, and Solid Waste.

What You'll Do:
  1. Safeguard our Water Resources: Conduct field inspections and assessments to ensure water systems meet and exceed local and state standards, identifying issues proactively.
  2. Empower Through Collaboration: Work with local, state, and regional agencies, as well as other city departments, to promote sustainable water practices and community well-being.
  3. Drive Operational Excellence: Investigate water-related challenges, from leak detection to efficient irrigation, maintaining high standards of service and safety.
  4. Enhance Customer Experiences: Engage with residents and businesses to educate, inform, and resolve water management issues, fostering public trust and community relations.

What We're Looking For:

Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical qualification includes:

  • Educational: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by landscape and irrigation maintenance training or a related field.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year in water-efficient landscape and irrigation maintenance and related construction work.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Valid California Driver's License, maintained throughout employment.
    • Within 24 months of employment, obtain a California-Nevada America Water Works Association Water Use Efficiency Grade I Practitioner Certificate, maintained throughout employment.
    • Within three (3) testing periods from employment, obtain a valid Irrigation Association Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor certificate, maintained throughout employment.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

The Application Process

Applications are accepted until 5:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025. Candidates passing the screening and with desirable qualifications will be invited to an exam scheduled for the week of June 16, 2025. Top scorers will proceed to in-person interviews tentatively scheduled for the week of July 7, 2025.

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list for current and future vacancies. The current vacancy is for a Water Resources Field Representative.

The selected candidate will undergo background checks, fingerprinting, and a pre-employment medical exam including drug/alcohol screening.
