Job summary

The City of Beloit seeks an Equipment Operator- Water in the Water Resources Division of the Department of Public Works. You will operate and maintain the water distribution and metering systems, aiding pumping stations and water storage, and perform utility locates.

The role includes maintenance duties and may require working variable shifts with an on-call rotation. High School diploma and a valid CDL or ability to obtain within one year are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Class B CDL or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• One year of responsible work experience in construction or public/private utility work; experience with public water systems preferred.
• Other combinations of training/experience may meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the public water supply distribution and customer metering systems.
• Assist in maintenance of water system pumping and booster stations, water production and storage, and related facilities and grounds.
• Perform Diggers Hotline locates for water, sanitary, and storm water utilities.
• May work variable shifts and participate in an on-call rotation for off-hours customer service.
