Job summary

The City of Fort Smith, Arkansas seeks an experienced Environmental Resources Manager to oversee the Environmental Quality Program, analytical laboratory, watershed management for Lee Creek and Frog Bayou, and related pretreatment efforts. Reports to Deputy Director of Water Resources and guides long-term goals, budgets, and initiatives.

Responsibilities include leading projects, supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining data systems, and delivering reports to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years combined experience in laboratory, watershed management, environmental laboratory, and/or FOG and industrial pretreatment.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience is required.
  • Three (3) years management experience or coursework required.
  • Must possess or obtain Arkansas water licenses within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in program direction, priorities, budgets, and initiatives to fulfill the department mission.
  • Manage environmental projects, laboratory, watersheds, FOG and pretreatment programs, and staff supervision.
  • Develop resources for the Environmental Quality Program including records, data systems, and mitigation efforts.
  • Provide analyses, reports, and recommendations on laboratory, watersheds, and pretreatment programs; report on treatment plants.
