Key Responsibilities
- Design systems to safely, efficiently, and effectively transport drinking water and/or wastewater to and from end users, including pumping and storage projects.
- Assist senior design staff in the design of water and/or wastewater treatment plant projects.
- Review and analyze drainage systems for storm water or floodplains to ensure the safety of the ecosystem and public; design necessary conveyance systems to safeguard the area.
- Assess the need for drinking water and/or wastewater treatment systems based on current and projected future population and/or development demands; conduct feasibility studies for the construction of public utility infrastructure to meet identified needs.
- Analyze or assist with analysis of various water and/or wastewater treatment technologies, and recommend the most effective method.
- Design and develop specifications for various pumping and force main systems.
- Collaborate with contractors and government agencies regarding construction of assigned projects.
- Ensure design and equipment specifications comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
- Conduct feasibility and related studies regarding the collection, treatment, or distribution of water or wastewater, and prepare written technical reports.
- Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise on water resources-related issues.
- Conduct appropriate cost-benefit analyses for assigned projects.
- Align with marketing team on RFPs, presentations, and project scoping.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience designing water treatment plants, in part or in whole, is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in public infrastructure projects related to Water Resources.
- Project and/or Client Management experience is required.
- Ability to guide junior staff and participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small- to large-scale multi-discipline water projects of varying technical complexity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
