Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Water Resources Engineer I to join its growing team. The role focuses on developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for municipal systems and assisting with drainage studies in the Chicago area.

We seek a 4-year Civil Engineering degree with water resources emphasis; travel is required. EIT is preferred, and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, SWMM helps. Competitive pay and strong benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 4 year BS degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of basic principles of infrastructure design, hydrology and hydraulics.
• Ability to travel throughout Chicago area; own transportation.
• EIT Engineer in Training license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Hydrologic and Hydraulic models of municipal storm sewer and sanitary collection systems.
• Assist with Drainage Studies and Stormwater Masterplans.
• Analysis and Design of municipal stormwater facilities (open channels, culverts, storm sewers, detention basins, green infrastructure).
• Drainage design for transportation hydraulic structures and site design.
• Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Construction.
• Field work with Flood inspection and/or Construction Observation.
• Permitting with local, state and federal agencies.
• Assistance with municipal permit review.

What your day to day will look like

Education Requirement

• Strong verbal computer organizational and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT Engineer in Training License
• Knowledge of H&H modeling SWMM
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS
• Knowledge of MicroStation Bentley
• Experience in Consulting Engineering Public Works or Construction

Compensation

The pay range for this role is 76000 to 90000 Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set depth of experience and certifications
