Job summary

Baxter & Woodman Inc. in Crystal Lake, IL, seeks a Water Resources Engineer I to join its growing water resources group. You will work on municipal projects, developing hydrologic and hydraulic models and assisting with drainage studies, with an emphasis on client-first solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a 4-year B.S. in Civil Engineering, can travel across the Chicago area, and demonstrates strong writing, verbal, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• 4-year B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, with emphasis in Water Resources engineering preferred.
• Willingness to travel throughout Chicago area (own transportation).
• Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics principles.
• Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects.
• Strong verbal, computer, organizational, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop Hydrologic and Hydraulic models of municipal storm sewer and sanitary collection systems.
• Assist with Drainage Studies and Stormwater Masterplans.
• Analysis and Design of municipal stormwater facilities (open channels, culverts, storm sewers, detention basins, green infrastructure, etc.).
• Drainage design for transportation, hydraulic structures, and site design.
• Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Construction.
• Field work associated with Flood inspection and/or Construction Observation.
• Permitting with local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
• Assistance with municipal permit review.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job

Education Requirement

• Knowledge of the basic principles of hydrology and hydraulics.
• Ability to travel throughout Chicago area (own transportation).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of H&H modeling (SWMM).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of MicroStation (Bentley).
• Experience in Consulting Engineering, Public Works, or Construction.

Compensation The pay range for this role is $76,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
