Job summary

VHB's Water Resources group is expanding across New England, and we're seeking a senior Water Resources Engineer with deep hydraulics and hydrology expertise to lead our high-performing team on cutting-edge projects. You will apply advanced modeling to riverine and coastal flooding, ecological restoration, and resiliency challenges for public and private clients.

Ideally based in Greater Boston, you could be based in any NE office.

Qualifications

  • 11+ years of water resources engineering experience.
  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering (master's may substitute for two years).
  • PE license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary water resources projects with hydraulics, hydrology, and resiliency focus.
  • Conduct hydrologic, hydraulic and scour analyses using current modeling software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, EPA SWMM, SRH-2D/SMS, CHAMP, and others
  • Identify flood, scour and resiliency improvements including nature-based solutions and living shorelines
  • Perform FEMA no-rise analyses and assist clients with FEMA map revisions
  • Develop technical reports, design plans, construction documents, and specifications
  • Lead the construction administration for water resource projects
  • Work with integrated team to evaluate permit requirements and support permit applications
  • Attend and present at meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
  • Lead development of project proposals, scopes of work and fee estimates
  • Mentor and expand the technical resources of staff
