Job summary

VHB is seeking a Water Resources Engineer in Virginia to join a multidisciplinary team focused on flood control, water quality, resiliency, and infrastructure modernization. You’ll work on hydrologic/hydraulic studies, MS4 support, green infrastructure, and design of drainage and floodplain projects with AutoCAD Civil 3D/ORD experience and collaborators across agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of professional experience in water resources, civil engineering, or related field.
• Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, drainage design, floodplain analysis.
• Experience with HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, PCSWMM, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or OpenRoads Designer preferred.
• EIT certification highly preferred with interest in PE license.

Responsibilities

• Support water resources and civil infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction.
• Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and modeling using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, PCSWMM, HY-8, ArcGIS, and Bentley software.
• Assist with stormwater management, drainage, watershed, floodplain, and flood resilience studies and designs.
• Support design of stormwater systems, culverts, drainage improvements, stream restoration projects, and other water resources infrastructure.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans, construction documents, specifications, and permit applications.
• Support construction administration and implementation of water resources projects.
• Apply AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, GIS, and other digital delivery tools to improve project delivery.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to develop practical and innovative solutions.
• Develop knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting/regulatory requirements.
• Participate in a collaborative team environment and contribute to continuous improvement and professional development.
