Job summary

County of Monterey's Monterey County Water Resources Agency is seeking a Water Resources Engineer. The role focuses on planning, design, construction, and maintenance of flood control, water production, storage, treatment and distribution facilities.

Ideal candidates bring hydrology, civil engineering, and field inspection experience, plus the ability to coordinate with staff and outside agencies on complex projects like recycled water and Salinas River diversions.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in engineering, hydrology, geology, hydrogeology, or a closely related field.
• Experience with water resources facilities and project oversight preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering duties in planning, design review, construction, operation and maintenance of flood control and water systems.
• Conduct field investigations and analyses for environmental, hydraulic, hydrologic and water quality aspects.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, and cost estimates; review contractor submittals for conformance.
• Coordinate with internal staff and outside agencies to ensure project deadlines and standards are met.
