Job summary

HDR, Inc. in the United States-New York is seeking a Water Engineer to lead complex water-focused projects. You will support the Water Business Group, perform technical studies, supervise staff, and manage mid-size projects.

A Civil Engineering degree, 3+ years of experience, and a Professional Engineer license are required. HDR's employee-owned culture welcomes independent work and collaboration to improve public health and infrastructure resilience.

Qualifications

In the role of Water Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Take responsibility for performing complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
• Function as technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects as needed
• Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water focused projects
• Preference is given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
• Previous experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water focused projects
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Abilityto make independent decisions and be accountable for the results
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
