Waggoner Engineering, Inc. in Jackson, MS is seeking a Director of Water Resources to lead and grow the Water Resources practice, delivering high-quality, innovative solutions across markets.

You will guide watershed planning, H&H modeling, flood mitigation, and client relations with a strategic, growth-oriented mindset. You will mentor engineers and project managers, oversee staffing and profitability, and collaborate with multiple service areas to expand the firm’s capabilities.

Qualifications

• Ten years of professional engineering experience in water resources, stormwater management, and/or watershed planning.
• Knowledge of watershed-based planning, H&H modeling, and stormwater design.
• Proven success managing and completing complex projects for local, state, and federal clients.
• Experience leading and managing engineering teams, including staff development and coordination.
• Successful track record in business development, including identifying opportunities, leading pursuits, and developing winning proposals.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Waggoner’s Water Resources discipline, including watershed planning and stormwater services.
• Lead business development by pursuing key clients, preparing proposals, and serving as trusted advisor.
• Oversee delivery of high-quality, on-time and on-budget projects with QA/QC.
• Offer senior technical guidance on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and FEMA/NFIP work.
• Mentor and grow a team of engineers and project managers across locations.
• Manage staffing, utilization, backlog, profitability, and resource planning.
• Coordinate with Water, Wastewater, Transportation, Environmental, and GIS for integrated delivery.
