Job summary

VS Engineering’s Indianapolis office seeks a Water Resources engineer to design water resources projects, coordinate with clients and regulators, and contribute to the growth of the Water Resources practice. This role emphasizes learning from experienced engineers and advancing toward project management or specialized technical tracks.

The position offers mentorship, career development, and remote work opportunities across the office network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience; public-sector experience preferred.
  • PE license or successful PE exam (preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Adobe/Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Develop water resources designs, plans, details, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with planning, feasibility studies, and preliminary engineering reports.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, and permitting agencies.
  • Research and apply current design standards and best practices.
  • Support proposals, contracts, change orders, and client communications.
  • Build relationships with clients and contribute to the growth of our Water Resources practice.

Requirements
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience; public-sector experience preferred.
  • PE license or successful completion of the PE exam (preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Adobe/Bluebeam.
  • Moderate experience with hydraulic modeling and hydrology
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to learn, collaborate, and take on new challenges.
