Job summary

The City of San José's Environmental Services Department is seeking a Water Resources & Compliance Specialist (full-time) to support Cross-Connection Control, O&M safety, and hazardous materials management. This on-site position is located at the Municipal Water Office in San Jose, CA.

You will assist with program implementation, policy interpretation, inspections, and training to ensure environmental regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in environmental programs.
• Experience in environmental compliance or related field is desirable.
• Coursework or experience in environmental compliance or related field is desirable.
• Backflow testing and Cross-Connection Control certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement programs to ensure regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance.
• Coordinate data reporting and regulatory databases for complete/accurate data.
• Perform inspections and review plans for recycled water and cross-connection compliance.
• Schedule safety and hazardous materials audits of sites and facilities.
• Assist with updates of permits and management plans for safety and environmental programs.
