City of Nampa is seeking Water Renewal Collections Technicians I-III for outdoor work in the wastewater system. You will perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of the sanitary sewer network, often using hydro-cleaning trucks and TV inspection tools. Pay depends on level and experience.

HIRING SALARY: Dependent on experience which level of technician to be hired at-


Tech I - 16N - $21.71-$25.43 hourly


Tech II - 17N - $23.56-$28.20 hourly


Tech III - 18N - $25.55-$31.26 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY (Technician I - III)

The City of Nampa’s Wastewater Division is looking for motivated individuals at various levels (I, II, III) to perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of the City’s wastewater collection system. This work is conducted outdoors and involves exposure to hazardous materials and gases typical of a sewer collection environment.


Essential Functions

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system, including lines, manholes, and lift stations.
  • Operate complex sewer line cleaning equipment (e.g., hydrocleaning trucks) and television inspection devices to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on sewer lift stations, including inspecting pumps and motors, and completing maintenance reports.
  • Provide information to the public, contractors, and utility representatives regarding underground line locations as requested.
  • Ensure public safety by coordinating with other City services, addressing citizen complaints, and providing timely resolutions.
  • Maintain records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, in accordance with City policies.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to safe work practices.

Additional Functions

  • Assist in the training of new employees in proper operational and safety procedures.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required, including after hours, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and workshops to stay current with industry practices and developments.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and maps.
  • Capable of operating hand and power tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve work-related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Basic principles and practices of underground pipeline maintenance and repair.
  • Understanding of pump operation, preventive maintenance, and the operation of sewer collection systems.
  • Familiarity with safety principles and practices related to wastewater operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing wastewater collection and treatment.

Required Education, Experience, & Licence/Certifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); required.

Tech I: 1+ years of experience in wastewater collections or related field.


Tech II: 1+ years as a Collection Technician I with additional certifications.


Tech III: 3+ years as a Collection Technician II with advanced knowledge and experience.


Licenses

Valid State of Idaho Class B Commercial Driver's License required.


Idaho Collection System Class I Certification within 1 year of employment (Level I); Class II for Level II; Class III for Level III.


  • Must live within a thirty-minute response time of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Must have or obtain a residence phone within 30 days of employment.

  • The principal duties of this position are performed outdoors, with exposure to hazardous gases and materials found in a sewer collection system.
