Job summary

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services seeks a senior engineer to provide technical leadership for complex water infrastructure initiatives. The role oversees water system project engineers, offers guidance on wastewater treatment processes, and leads design/construction of water reclamation facility expansions.

Requires a Civil Engineering degree and ten years in water/wastewater engineering, seven in treatment design, plus a Georgia PE license within one year (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus ten years of water and wastewater engineering experience, seven years in wastewater treatment design.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Georgia Professional Engineer license within one year, or licensed elsewhere with Georgia license to be obtained within one year.
• Experience leading staff, coordinating complex infrastructure projects, and providing technical guidance on design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Manages and evaluates staff; plans work schedules; conducts performance appraisals; trains staff and ensures resources are available.
• Develops capital improvement plans for infrastructure projects; estimates costs; prioritizes projects.
• Oversees consultants, reviews RFPs, and ensures proposals comply with policy; guides design during bid and construction phases.
• Provides technical support during design and construction; reviews modeling and engineering studies; resolves issues to control costs and risk.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and coordination with state/regional agencies; updates standard documents as regulations change.
