Job summary

City of Shreveport is seeking Laboratory Scientists for water and wastewater analysis. The role involves performing chemical and physical tests, interpreting microbiological data, and determining treatment needs for various samples.

You will operate and maintain lab equipment, enter data into LIMS, and support quality control procedures. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, microbiology, biology, or related field, plus data handling skills and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, biology or a closely related field.
• Data handling skills, including facility with Microsoft Office and LIMS.
• Ability to prepare written reports and perform basic calculations.
• Valid State Vehicle Operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized chemical and physical tests and interpret microbiological analyses to determine treatment of potable, industrial, wastewater and sludge samples.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment; enter data into LIMS and support QA/QC.
• Prepare standards and reagents; participate in proficiency testing and ensure compliance with regulations.
