Job summary

American Water is offering a Water Quality Internship in New Jersey to support the lead and galvanized service line project. You will assist staff with record research and sample handling, gaining hands-on experience in a regulated utility environment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Biology program and eager to learn wet chemistry, sampling, and reporting. This internship provides learning opportunities and exposure to real-world water quality work.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an Environmental Science, Chemistry or Biology undergraduate degree program from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Collect water quality samples daily.
• Prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
• Perform wet chemistry analyses (e.g., hardness, alkalinity, turbidity).
• Conduct lead and copper sampling and monitoring.
• Assist in report preparation and communicate results to customers.
• Support laboratory operations and maintenance.
