Job summary

Kansas Department of Health and Environment seeks an Environmental Specialist Supervisor to lead the Stream Chemistry and Lake & Wetland Unit Chief. You will supervise field sampling, QA/QC of data, and data interpretation, while guiding annual data collection and reporting efforts.

Travel of 2–3 days per month is anticipated; the role supports water quality programs and engagement with federal databases. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, geology, or related natural science.
  • Master’s degree preferred in environmental science or natural resource management.
  • Experience with databases, statistics, GIS, and software; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee stream chemistry and lake/wetland monitoring operations, supervise staff, and ensure QA/QC of water quality data.
  • Coordinate sampling programs and site visits; manage data in state and federal databases; prepare annual reports.
