As one of the leading publicly traded water, wastewater, and natural gas providers in the U.S., we offer a fantastic career opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Manager under the direction of the President of Aqua NJ. This role ensures water and wastewater systems comply with environmental regulations.

Essential Duties
  1. Collaborate with Compliance, Laboratory, Operations, and Engineering teams to produce high-quality drinking water and wastewater effluent cost-effectively, ensuring environmental regulations are met and providing technical expertise.
  2. Support operational staff with regulatory requirements, maintain relationships with all FSR and operators, and foster a culture of environmental compliance at all organizational levels.
  3. Use SCADA and other monitoring systems to review water quality, analyze data, and coordinate responses with relevant personnel.
  4. Compile data, prepare reports, and maintain records for compliance documentation.
  5. Manage submissions for all permits and forms such as MORS, diversion/allocation, NJDEP, and NJPDES, including tracking and renewing permits.
  6. Develop and update LSL inventories and replacement plans, and coordinate regulatory mailings.
  7. Lead treatment studies, special projects, and serve as a liaison across departments for technical resource exchange.
  8. Maintain expertise in environmental regulations and serve as a resource for managers and staff.
  9. Coordinate and participate in regulatory inspections.
  10. Follow all safety and health policies.
  11. Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of full-time experience in water and wastewater industries.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Possession of NJDEP water or wastewater licensure is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
  • Team player with multitasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of groundwater and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with NJDEP/EPA inspections or utility regulations preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Primarily sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Field travel required to various plants across the state.
