Job summary

American Water Works Association seeks an Environmental Services Administrator to oversee the Water Quality and Compliance Division within our Environmental Services Department in California. This mid‑management role reports to the Director of Environmental Services and supervises staff across professional and administrative levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, biology, environmental science, natural resources management, or other job relevant field.
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in water quality management, water resources management, wastewater source control management, or related professional experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of direct managerial/supervisory experience.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operations and activities of the Environmental Services programs, including water quality and compliance.
• Participates in development and oversight of division goals, budgets, and policies; monitors efficiency and performance; recommends improvements.
• Supervises staff and conducts performance evaluations; involucrates discipline procedures as needed.
• Develops and manages contracts and procurement; negotiates terms and ensures compliance with specifications.
