Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking a qualified Backflow Technician to identify, inspect, test, and repair city-owned backflow assemblies and perform cross-connection control surveys.

Under the Environmental Resources Compliance Manager, you will ensure compliance with IPP and Well-field Protection programs, coordinate with regulators, and maintain inspection records. The role requires relevant certifications and Florida driver's license; on-call responsibilities may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED and Backflow testing certifications.
• Experience with cross-connection control, testing, repair and maintenance of water systems.
• Florida certifications in IPP/Backflow preferred; VEPO Cross Connex knowledge advantageous.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test City backflow assemblies to ensure proper function.
• Perform cross-connection surveys and hazardous assessments per state regs.
• Coordinate compliance with IPP and Well-field Protection programs.
• Attend inspections by local regulators and maintain records.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Answer queries from city staff and contractors regarding compliance.
