Job summary

Clean Harbors in Kapolei, HI is seeking Water Plant Technicians to join the Water Remediation Group. You will work at the Kapolei facility and at customer sites, supporting liquid and vapor filtration and related remediation services.

The role requires 12-hour shifts, 24/7 plant operations, OT may be required, and a valid driver's license with clean MVR is preferred. Training and safety protocols are provided. Benefits and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CDL B or A is an asset but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean MVR.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Safely and compliantly execute projects to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist on-scene foreman in managing large projects.
  • Perform emergency response activities including spills and contamination control.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment; report mechanical issues to supervisor.
  • Assist field sampling activities and meter calibration.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Clean Harbors is seeking to add Water Plant Technicians for our Water Remediation Group. The Water Plant Technician will work out of our facility in Kapolei, HI. This position is responsible for activities at customer sites and helping with onsite projects. Our group provides liquid and vapor filtration and other miscellaneous remediation site services.

Shift: 12-hour shifts, 24/7 plant. OT required.

Office: 91-220 Kalaeloa Blvd Kapolei, HI 96707

Pay Range DOE: $25-30 per HR

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations;
  • Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of all jobs that they work on, ensuring customer satisfaction;
  • Assists the on-scene foreman/supervisor in managing large projects;
  • Performs emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, equipment decontamination, etc.;
  • Responsible for vehicle inspections, equipment inspections and Health & Safety inspections. Ensures proper use of equipment and immediately notifies supervisor of any mechanical failures or problems with equipment;
  • Assists in the field sampling activities and calibration of meters;
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of Clean Harbors business, including, but not limited to running supplies, emergency response clean ups, etc.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required;
  • CDL B or A, an asset but not required;
  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Computer savvy;
  • Able to perform multiple tasks;
  • Strong mechanical ability preferred;
  • Understands the manpower and equipment required to complete assignments;
  • Available for 24 hour, on-call basis;
  • Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work;
  • Knowledge of chemicals helpful;
  • Ability to pass background check will qualify individuals to work on government sites;
  • Knowledge of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance helpful;
  • Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations helpful, training provided;
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation DOT regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) helpful, training provided;
  • Ability to pass federal level background DBIDS checks after hire are required, if this is not passed it will likely result in separation from the company, as it is a requirement to work at this facility;
  • All other duties as required by Management.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping and crouching in confined spaces; Requires walking, climbing, speaking, listening, color determination and clarity of vision at 2 feet or more (with or without lenses); Requires sitting for extended periods. Requires the ability to properly wear and use personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) including levels A, B, C, D & including full encapsulation PPE suits which can elevate body temperature substantially during strenuous exertion;
  • Available for 24/day on‑call basis;
  • Requires speaking, writing, and listening in English;
  • Position involves strenuous physical exertion. Requires standing, lifting up to 50lbs.
