Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking a Plant Operator or Trainee to support groundwater operations. You will monitor and control pumps, adjust chemical feeds, collect samples, and maintain logs to ensure a safe, reliable water supply.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas driver license, and a plan to obtain a TCEQ Wastewater License within a year; license pay may apply. Training is provided to grow into a skilled operator.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid Texas Driver license.
• The ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Wastewater License within one year of hire date. (Pay is dependent upon possession of Class A, B, C or D Wastewater License. Certificate/license pay up to $200.00 per month, depending on additional license(s) obtained)

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust pumps, motors and chemical feeds to ensure proper treatment processes.
• Collect water samples and perform standard chemical and biological laboratory tests.
• Record data from meters and gauges, maintaining accurate logs of plant activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds and specialized equipment.
