Job summary

Clayton County Water Authority invites applicants for a Plant Operator Apprenticeship. The program trains students to become certified Water Plant Operators in Georgia, working under a certified operator and learning through hands-on, on-the-job training.

Apprentices learn to monitor and adjust plant systems, operate pumps and equipment, and maintain operation logs, with pay of $15.00 per hour and supervision by licensed operators as they progress toward certification.

Qualifications

• Must be a junior in a Clayton County High School.
• Must currently be enrolled in a CTAE Work-Based Learning program in Clayton County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist in the operation of a treatment plant under supervision of a certified operator.
• Participate in plant rounds, monitor gauges, meters, graphs, and SCADA systems.
• Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing plant equipment and instrumentation.
