Description

Texas Meter & Device is hiring for several full-time water meter readers in the Atlanta, GA area.

This is a full-time position. Training pay will start at $18-20/hour, then pay goes to piece rate and is based on the number of meters read (piece rate/production pay).

Under the general direction of the Project/Field Supervisor, the Meter Reader will be reading residential and commercial water meters.

Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance as there is no per diem nor relocation allowance associated with these positions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Will read residential class and commercial class water meters
  • Use a hand held device provided by the company to record accurate read information
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed
  • Oversee any materials, uniforms, equipment, vehicle and tools required to complete the work
  • Be punctual and dependable to a set work schedule
  • Recording of subsequent information in the field as required
  • Coordinate scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
  • Provide for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
  • Demonstrate, at all times, safety in all aspects of the work including driving, parking, accessing customer property, and adherence to all TMD safety standards and operating procedures
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

Requirements:

  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary
  • Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
  • Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Stable Multi-year Work History

  • Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of personal or professional driving experience due to insurance requirements
  • Must have own personal Smart phone
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle
  • Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law

Shift and Pay Info:

After training, pay is piece rate and technicians can average $20-$30/hour or more.

Training wage is $18-$20/hr and training generally lasts 1-2 weeks.

Monday – Friday, with Saturday work that could be REQUIRED at times.

Work hours are generally between the hours of 7am - 5pm (such as 7am - 3:30pm, with a 30 minute lunch or 7:30am - 4pm with a 30 minute lunch), but could vary depending on the project.
