Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies in Cary, NC is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to lead portions of large-scale water and wastewater projects, guiding design through full project life cycles and supporting cost estimates and contract documents. You will coordinate with internal/external teams, mentor junior engineers, and help drive client-focused solutions.

Responsibilities include design execution, scheduling, budgeting, and participating in business development efforts, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Licensed PE or actively pursuing PE registration.
• Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design (infrastructure, conveyance, pump stations).
• Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform design of projects from conceptual and bid phase through design completion based on client needs.
• Assist Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets.
• Assist Engineering Manager in managing sub-consultants.
• Interface directly with clients or sub-consultants under the Engineering Manager.
• Support business development through writing of technical approaches and proposals.
