Water Infrastructure Manager, AWS Water Team

Job Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continuous access to our services. We work on complex problems with many variables, and we’re looking for talented individuals to help us.

You will be part of a diverse team including software, hardware, network engineers, and more. Your role will involve delivering water sustainability projects in US West regions, managing water treatment and disinfection systems, and maintaining relationships with utilities. If you have experience with water-cooled infrastructure and are interested in innovation, you might be a good fit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute water and wastewater infrastructure projects supporting data center operations.
  • Negotiate utility contracts and oversee their execution.
  • Design, implement, and monitor water treatment projects, scaling them across regions.
  • Troubleshoot water systems, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with utilities for site requirements and compliance.
  • Manage reliability and maintenance of water systems, ensuring resiliency.
  • Develop resiliency plans for water sources.
  • Support water sustainability goals through project delivery.
  • Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of water treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions in areas lacking infrastructure.
  • Maintain on-site water treatment and disinfection systems.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed for projects.
Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or Water Resources Planning.
  • 5+ years experience with utility relationships, contracts, and infrastructure development.
  • 5+ years project management experience.
  • 5+ years working with water chemistry and treatment technologies.
  • 5+ years interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related engineering fields.
  • 8+ years experience with water treatment equipment management.
  • Experience with fast-track projects and upgrades.
  • 8+ years working with mechanical/plumbing systems in data centers.
  • Experience with government agencies, utilities, and permitting.
