Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Water Aerobics Instructor to join our team at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA. You will design and teach water fitness classes, promote safety, and help members improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning.

The role is part-time (up to 25 hours/week). Candidates should have at least one year of related experience, be comfortable in water, and hold Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First

Qualifications

• One year or more related experience preferred.
• Experience with adults and diverse populations.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Oxygen certifications preferred.
• Pass Background and Reference checks as per WA Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive working environment.
• Willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on day one.

Responsibilities

• Design and instruct water fitness classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
• Instruct water fitness classes for a variety of skill levels.
• Prepare lesson plans.
• Give clear directions, cues and demonstrations.
• Create a safe and positive atmosphere.
• Promote member safety and engagement.
• Help others improve flexibility, strength, endurance and cardiovascular conditioning.
