General Definition of Work
Performs work responsible for maintaining and repairing of the water wells, boosters and water distribution systems for the City of Cape Girardeau.
Essential Functions
● Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on water wells, water mains, valves, hydrants, boosters and other service lines.
● Conducts periodic rounds of all assigned facilities observing operating conditions; takes appropriate action as directed.
● Assists in location of water mains.
● Assists in the inspection of new installations of water lines, appurtenances and new water facilities.
● Maintains records of corrective and preventive maintenance according to set procedures.
● Responds to after-hours and emergency call outs with appropriate equipment and personnel.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● High school diploma or equivalency and two (2) years experience in maintenance and repair of water distribution systems; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
● Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and maintain a valid Class “A” license with airbrake endorsement.
Salary per hour $18.04, plus a generous benefit package.
Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation and pre-employment physical.
