Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Wellness, the Water Exercise Instructor will ensure that the patrons have a safe and enjoyable experience while using the equipment and facilities on the Pool Decks. They are responsible for monitoring the area during operating hours, enforcing safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the Pool areas.
Essential Functions
- Gain experience in the fitness industry and develop safe Water Exercise Instruction and customer service skills
- Interact with a diverse group of people and build relationships with Water Exercise patrons
- Proactively builds relationships with the YMCA population
- Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Develop problem-solving skills by resolving conflicts and responding to patrons' concerns
- Work collaboratively with a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to providing excellent customer service
- Monitors, organizes, and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment to supervisor
- Maintains records as required and supports studio closet/equipment area organization and inventory
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with YMCA staff, employees, members, and program participants
- Performs other duties as assigned
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required
- Must have current Water Exercise Certification [ACE, AFAA, AFPA, AEA, Burdenko, and AQUA ZUMBA (for Shallow Water)]
