Job summary

GFT is seeking a Water Engineering Intern to join our team in East Brunswick, NJ for a mid-May through mid-August program. You will contribute to planning, design, and construction administration on water and municipal projects under experienced engineers, with mentorship guiding your growth.

You'll gain exposure to site visits, reporting, and permit applications while developing CAD skills and understanding of regulations. Most interns transition to full-time roles within the firm.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in water/wastewater engineering through internships, work experiences, or coursework.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in the field and contribute to project teams.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Support real client projects by participating in planning, design, and construction administration of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Assist with site visits, surveys, inspections, and data collection for utility infrastructure projects.
• Support preparation of reports, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assist in reviewing subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including stormwater management and erosion control.
• Aid in preparing permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies.
