Job summary

GFT is seeking a Water Engineering Intern in New York, NY, to gain real-world experience within a dynamic team of engineers. The role focuses on sustainable water management, infrastructure projects, and a chance to contribute to a variety of design services.

You will be guided by experienced engineers, with many interns converting to full-time roles. The internship runs from mid-May through mid-August and offers hands-on exposure to municipal water resources projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited undergrad/grad program in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in the field and contribute to project teams.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, and construction administration of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Assist with site visits, surveys, inspections, and data collection.
• Prepare reports, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans including stormwater management.
• Aid in preparing permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies.
