Job summary

Tighe & Bond is seeking a Water Engineering co-op to join the Westfield, MA office and work on water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects across the Northeast. You’ll support data collection, calculations, and documentation while learning from experienced engineers and participating in intern activities.

The role offers a hybrid work environment with mentorship and opportunities for professional growth within our One Water team and award-winning practice.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
• Previous internship experience in engineering, design, or consulting
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems
• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and open-mindedness

Overview

As aWater Engineering co-op, you will join our Water Business Line in our Westfield, MAoffice, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience and advance environmental sustainability. Our One Water Team and ProjectsOur team of 160 dedicated water professionals has earned multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards. We partner with private, state, and local government clients to enhance drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring reliable and sustainable systems for communities. As part of our team, you’ll help plan, design, and administer the construction of new and upgraded conveyance systems, treatment plants, and pump stations. You’ll support clients with capital improvement planning, hydraulic modeling, and asset management programs. Our work also includes Long-Term CSO Control Plans, Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans, Integrated Water Resource Management Plans, and Sewer System Evaluation Studies—driving smarter, more resilient water solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support project teams with data collection, analysis, and documentation for our various types of water, wastewater and stormwater projects


• Perform engineering calculations to support our projects.


• Assist staff on a variety of tasks with various study, design and construction projects and/or field assignments


• Participate in Tighe & Bond’s annual Intern Day activities.

What You'll Need

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering


• Previous and relevant internship experience


• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems


• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and open-mindedness

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or SolidWorks


• Hands-on experience with office software like Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint


• At least 2 years of completed coursework in a college level academic program


• Previous internship experience in engineering, design, or consulting
