Job summary

Tighe & Bond, Inc. seeks a Water Engineering Intern in Worcester, MA to contribute to water, wastewater, and stormwater projects within the One Water Team. You will assist with data collection, analyses, and design-related tasks under experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, mentorship, and a hybrid office environment, with opportunities to gain exposure to capital planning and asset management in a respected Northeast firm.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with data collection, analysis, and documentation for water, wastewater and stormwater projects.
• Perform engineering calculations to support projects.
• Assist staff on a variety of tasks with study, design, construction projects and/or field assignments.
• Participate in Tighe & Bond’s annual Intern Day activities.

Overview

As aWater Engineering Intern, you will join ourWater Business Line in ourWorcester, MA office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience and advance environmental sustainability. Our One Water Team and ProjectsOur team of 160 dedicated water professionals has earned multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards. We partner with private, state, and local government clients to enhance drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring reliable and sustainable systems for communities. As part of our team, you’ll help plan, design, and administer the construction of new and upgraded conveyance systems, treatment plants, and pump stations. You’ll support clients with capital improvement planning, hydraulic modeling, and asset management programs. Our work also includes Long-Term CSO Control Plans, Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans, Integrated Water Resource Management Plans, and Sewer System Evaluation Studies—driving smarter, more resilient water solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support project teams with data collection, analysis, and documentation for our various types of water, wastewater and stormwater projects
• Perform engineering calculations to support our projects.
• Assist staff on a variety of tasks with various study, design and construction projects and/or field assignments
• Participate in Tighe & Bond’s annual Intern Day activities.

What You'll Need

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
• Previous and relevant internship experience
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems
• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and open-mindedness

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or SolidWorks
• Hands-on experience with office software like Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint
• At least 2 years of completed coursework in a college level academic program
• Previous internship experience in engineering, design, or consulting

Pay Range
