Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Engineering Intern for its Water Business Line in Phoenix, AZ to assist in evaluating, planning, and designing water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. You will contribute to fieldwork, data collection, and sustainability projects while collaborating with teams across the U.S.

and internationally. The role emphasizes learning digital tools such as SharePoint, BIM, Power BI, and AR to enhance project delivery and client collaboration.

Qualifications

Pursuing a BS in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering or related field.
Prior internship or coursework in water/wastewater, water resources, or related sectors preferred.
EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, plan, and design projects for water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment and conveyance.
Perform fieldwork: site visits, sample collection, water quality analyses, and data collection.
Support asset management projects via data analytics and performance evaluations.

Role description

We are currently seeking an engineering intern to join our Water Business Line in our Phoenix, AZ.

The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities

In this role responsibilities include evaluating, planning, and designing projects for water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment and conveyance which encompasses pipelines and pumping facilities. You will also be responsible for assessing, developing, and supporting the management of sustainability and resilience projects including conducting vulnerability and mitigation assessments, as well as planning and designing utilities, municipalities, and cities. Additionally, you will perform essential fieldwork activities such as conducting field site visits, collecting samples, performing water quality analyses, evaluating technologies, and gathering plant operations information. You will also be involved in troubleshooting processes and optimizing operations. Support for asset management projects by conducting data analytics, operational and organizational assessments, condition assessments, and overall performance evaluations of water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities will also be key components of your position.

Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participate in client meetings.
Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health and safety standards, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the U.S. and internationally.
Learn and use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

Pursuing a BS in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or another closely related academic discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior internship or coursework in water/wastewater, water resources, or related sectors.
EIT certification.
