Job summary

The City of Vallejo is seeking a Water Distribution Technician to install, maintain, and repair water distribution systems across the Vallejo service area. You will lead maintenance crews, work with other teams, and ensure safe, reliable water supply for about 150,000 customers.

This full-time position requires experience in water distribution, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and readiness to participate in emergency response.

Qualifications

• Three years of construction and maintenance experience in pressurized water systems.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform heavy physical labor.
• Possession of a valid California Class A license is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance crews in installation, connection, repair/maintenance, and relocation of water mains, services, valves, pumps, and hydrants; cut and fit pipes and make water main taps.
• Participate in installation and maintenance of water services and meters; test and certify backflow devices.
• Perform water quality field tests and collect water quality samples.
• Survey areas of the water system; locate and repair leaks; check for hazards or contamination.
