Job summary

The City of Walla Walla is seeking an apprentice operator to support the Water Distribution System, including meter work, leaks, flushing, valve exercises and hydrant maintenance. You will assist with heavy equipment operation and field repairs as part of a dedicated team.

Required is a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license and relevant certifications or the ability to obtain them within specified timelines. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Valid state driver's license with clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain Water Distribution Manager certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with heavy equipment operation and underground work.
• Support line flushing, hydrant maintenance and meter work.
• Respond to customer inquiries and emergency calls for water distribution.
