Job summary

Grantsville City Corporation is seeking a Water Operator to support the Public Works Department. The position involves installation, maintenance, and operation of the municipal water distribution system, water meter work, and Blue Stakes marking.

You will assist with water service disconnects/reconnects, system flushing, sampling, testing, and regulatory compliance while following safety and City policies. Evening/weekend on-call may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred Utah Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certification or ability to obtain within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Reads, installs, replaces, tests, and maintains residential and commercial water meters and related components.
• Investigates abnormal meter readings, leaks, and other meter-related concerns.
• Coordinates with City Hall on utility accounts and inquiries.
• Completes service orders and maintains documentation.
• Assists with marking underground water lines and Blue Stakes locations.
• Maintains water distribution infrastructure and repairs main breaks and leaks.
• Assists with routine operation and maintenance of the municipal water system.
• Operates tools and equipment safely and assists with on-call emergency responses.
